Getting Started
New to Investment Partner? Follow these steps to begin using our Google Sheets™ add-on:
1. Install the Add-on
Visit the Google Workspace Marketplace to install Investment Partner to your Google account.
2. Open in Google Sheets™
Open any Google Sheets™ document and click Extensions → Investment Partner → Open Sidebar
3. Start Using Functions
Use the sidebar to search for companies and insert functions, or type directly into cells. Our main functions are:
=IP("ZOMD.V", "price")– Get current stock price=IP("URL.CN", "marketcap")– Get market capitalization=IPLIVE("GSI.V", "price")– Get live updating price data
Available Functions
IP Function – Static Data
Syntax: =IP(ticker, metric)
Retrieves financial data that updates when you refresh or recalculate the sheet. Perfect for historical data and fundamental metrics.
Example: =IP("ZOMD.V", "revenue")
IPLIVE Function – Real-Time Data
Syntax: =IPLIVE(ticker, metric)
Retrieves live-updating financial data that refreshes automatically. Ideal for tracking current stock prices and market movements.
Example: =IPLIVE("GSI.V", "price")
Common Metrics Available
- price – Current stock price
- marketcap – Market capitalization
- revenue – Total revenue
- earnings – Earnings data
- pe – Price-to-earnings ratio
- volume – Trading volume

Frequently Asked Questions
Why am I getting errors when using formulas?
Most formula errors are due to incorrect ticker symbols. Ensure you’re using the correct stock ticker with exchange suffix (e.g., ZOMD.V for TSXV, URL.CN for CSE, SHOP.TO for TSX). Also check that you have a stable internet connection as data is fetched from external APIs.
The add-on won’t install properly. What should I do?
Ensure you’re signed into the correct Google account with permission to install add-ons. Try refreshing the page or using a different browser. If issues persist, contact us at info@investmentpartner.ca.
Is there a limit to how many requests I can make?
While there’s no set limit per user, we implement fair usage policies to ensure quality service for all users. The add-on uses caching to optimize performance and reduce API calls.
How current is the financial data?
Stock prices are near real-time or delayed by up to 15 minutes depending on the exchange and data provider. Fundamental data (balance sheet, cash flow) is updated based on company reporting schedules.
Which stock exchanges are supported?
We currently support:
- Canada: TSX Venture and The Canadian Securities Exchange
What’s the difference between IP and IPLIVE functions?
IP: Static function that retrieves data once when you enter it or manually recalculate. Best for fundamental metrics that don’t change frequently.
IPLIVE: Live-updating function that automatically refreshes. Best for tracking real-time stock prices and market movements.
Can I use this for investment advice?
